One way to count to 95 for our daily prayers

Each day we repeat the Greatest Name

95 times, each day we proclaim.

           D               Dm         A                D

But how to keep track, it’s too hard to count,

             A           D              E7            A

Here’s how to ensure we’ve done the amount.

 

                    D                   A           D                      A

Well, look down at your fingers, most of us have ten.

           D          A     D             E7

Count 3 times 3 on each of them.

              D              Dm          A                  D

You’re now up to ninety so what’s left to do?

      A            D         E7                    A

Think of a star that has five points too.

 

             D       A             D                      A

But before beginning, wash hands and face.

        D          A                      D          E7

Ablutions assist to reach a purified state.

           D                  Dm    A              D

Then find where to sit, alone and apart,

     A                D            E7             A

Clearing the mind, and ready to start.

 

     D          A                        D        A

Allah’u’abhá, ninety-five times aloud

     D                      A                D                E7

Claim the hidden gifts with which it’s endowed.

           D                Dm               A                  D

And this way of counting with ten groups of 3’s

     A                D               E7                  A

Allows us to pray and puts us at ease.
